There are many examples of other visionaries or religious
figures giving opinions on which Papal claimant should be supported.
Only a few decades before Joan of Arc's trial, St. Catherine of
Siena, St. Catherine of Sweden,
Bl. Ursulina of Parma, Bl. Peter of Aragon, St. Vincent Ferrer,
St. Colette, and many others had bluntly given
opinions on the Schism by rejecting one
Pope in favor of another. This was part of a longer pattern
which included similar pronouncements made by
mystics such as the 12th century St. Hildegard von Bingen and
St. Elizabeth of Schönau.
