It has been observed that the vast majority of the books and films on this subject
are unfortunately fictionalized accounts or distortions of the
historical record, and therefore differ remarkably from the accepted
view by reputable historians. There are only a handful of readily-obtainable biographies
that are true to history, such as Pernoud's "Joan of Arc: By Herself
and Her Witnesses"; there are additionally
some solid books on specialized topics, such as Prof. Deborah
Fraioli's "Joan of Arc: The Early Debate". Most of the others
cannot be recommended. Below are links to some reviews
