Joan of Arc's 'Letter to the English', footnote 7
We know that she had a desire to take part in the planned crusade
against the Hussites (followers of Jan Hus), as made abundantly clear in a
letter on 23 March 1430
in which she threatened to lead a
crusading army against the group unless they returned to, quote,
"the Catholic faith and the original Light", accusing them of having
"ruined the true faith and worship, and embraced a disgraceful and
unlawful superstition."
Jan Hus was a "proto-Protestant" or "radical Catholic" leader, burned at the stake in
1415, whose adherents gained support from the Czech nobility and
maintained themselves for over a decade in wars against the Church
and the Holy Roman Empire.
