Joan of Arc's 'Letter to the English', footnote 3

The term "mettre jus" in this case is being used in its sense of "to put aside, give up", etc, as confirmed by the version of the letter entered into Thomassin's "Registre Delphinal", in which the same phrase is written: "par ainsi que rendez France" ("so long as you hand over [surrender, etc] France"), thereby clarifying the intended meaning.
