Book and Film Reviews

It has been observed that the vast majority of the books and films on this subject are unfortunately fictionalized accounts or distortions of the historical record, and therefore differ remarkably from the accepted view by reputable historians. There are only a handful of readily-obtainable biographies that are true to history, such as Pernoud's "Joan of Arc: By Herself and Her Witnesses"; there are additionally some solid books on specialized topics, such as Prof. Deborah Fraioli's "Joan of Arc: The Early Debate". Most of the others cannot be recommended. Below are links to some reviews (mostly of the erroneous books, plays and films) that are currently online.
